| BENEATH MY WINGS Danny, to this day, I can’t think of any reason or rhyme Why you & so many of your friends elected to die from AIDS. I was amazed each time you called when Your friends would fall one by one as though “it ain’t No thang” but fun to share needles & unprotected sex. Do Explain to the rest of us what your gain was. You won But we all lost & it cost so much emotional pain. Did it Ever occur to you & your suicidal friends to understand how No hurt or confusion could be so intense as our collective Experience of losing any one of you? AIDS is bad enough. Getting Around the idea that here lies suicide by AIDS is rough. Tell me what to tell us you leave behind & those who may Happen to be inclined to head along that path in time. I don’t Mind telling the world for what it’s worth how this hurts but You must’ve been hurting too. What could we have done or do? Will you help me be a healing agent, Danny? Give me something I can use to help others live? Bette Midler’s, “Wind Be- Neath My Wings” was your favorite song. Angels must be Graciously singing it through you to me & before long, So shall I pass from this experience. Help bring us a healing like dwayne beneath your wings dwayne o. parish copyright © 7/9/07 |
